Data Collection
The process of gathering the raw information a strategy will use.
Data collection means deciding what information matters, where it comes from, how often it updates, and whether it is available at the time a trading decision would have been made. In quant trading, data quality is often more important than model complexity because a model can only learn from the information it is given.
Example: Daily prices, trading volume, sector classifications, earnings dates, analyst revisions, and macro releases are all possible inputs to a systematic strategy.
